Larry, GRAFTJACKET® Matrix for Ulcer Repair Recipient
 Fifty-year-old Larry has had diabetes for 17 years. Because of his condition, Larry began to experience serious complications – foot ulcers, drop foot (a neuromuscular disorder) as well as peripheral neuropathy. The combination of these severe complications led to a number of falls. As a direct result, Larry had to retire from his beloved occupation as a special education teacher.
 Because the neuropathy did not subside, Larry could not feel the onset of developing foot ulcers and was subsequently unaware of just how badly affected his foot was until his first visit to Dr. Paul Kesselman’s office. On that day, Dr. Kesselman recommended Larry be admitted to the hospital immediately and undergo treatment with Wright’s GRAFTJACKET® Regenerative Tissue Matrix. Because the foot ulcers were so advanced, the risk of possible amputation was high. Larry placed his trust in Dr. Kesselman’s advice and proceeded with the surgery.
 Dr. Kesselman was able to successfully treat Larry’s condition and Larry is once again able to walk normally -- flat on his feet. This, of course, makes a world of difference in his comfort level and mobility as he had previously been walking on the sides of his foot due to the ulcers.
Most of all, Larry is extremely grateful that use of GRAFTJACKET® Matrix as part of the treatment process helped eradicate the possible need for amputation, saving his limb. Today, Larry is ulcer-free and recovering well. While he continues to watch his diet and take medication for his neuropathy, Larry is elated that he is now able to walk barefoot along the beach – a favorite pastime. Larry hopes to start volunteering within his community and getting back to a normal routine.
