Your Heathcare Team

During your surgery and rehabilitation, you'll work closely with a healthcare team that includes the following people:

  • An Orthopaedic Surgeon will perform your hip replacement surgery and monitor your recovery.

  • Nurses will prep you before surgery, care for you after surgery, and help you manage post-operative pain.
Reva's corner:
Your healthcare team will supervise your recovery, along with your medical doctor, who will monitor your medical needs such as hypertension, diabetes, any cardiac concerns, etc.
  • A Physical Therapist (PT) will help you strengthen the muscles around your prosthetic hip, teach you exercises that will help increase your range of motion, and show you how to get in and out of bed correctly.

  • An Occupational Therapist (OT) will teach you how to safely perform common daily activities.

  • A Case Manager will discuss hospital discharge plans with you.

Remember to phone your orthopaedic surgeon about any questions you have concerning your new hip.
