Summary: This article details diabetic Jeff Fulton's battle with a serious foot wound. Jeff's problems began with the removal of a callous on his foot that resulted in an ulcer and then a serious infection. Two years and nine doctors later, Jeff was on disability with a severe foot wound that would not heal. Jeff finally found Dr. Ahmad El-Samad, who performed surgery to address the underlying foot deformity and then treated the wound with GRAFTJACKET® Matrix. Eight months later, Jeff is back at work with just a small scar to indicate his previous life-threatening wound. Jeff and Dr. El-Samad warn about the problems diabetics face with foot ulcers and encourage others to seek treatment as soon as a problem develops.
