The first and most bone-conserving procedure is partial hip resurfacing. This procedure conserves the entire acetabulum (hip socket) and only resurfaces the femoral head (where the leg joins the hip), thus preserving the femur's vital head and neck bone stock.
The second offering in Wright's Lifetime Solutions plan is a total hip resurfacing procedure using the CONSERVE® PLUS Total Resurfacing Hip System. Wright's large femoral head components enable the CONSERVE® PLUS implant to offer a hip procedure with excellent stability. In this procedure, the hip socket and femoral head are resurfaced which conserves more bone than a total hip replacement.
This third offering within Lifetime Solutions is a total hip replacement utilizing Wright's CONSERVE® Total Hip with BFH® Technology. The CONSERVE® Total Hip is designed to mimic the natural anatomy and motion of the hip by replacing both sides of a patient's hip joint with a large diameter ball and socket implant. This increased femoral head diameter design and resulting increased range of motion helps reduce the risk of dislocation–one of the most common problems associated with hip replacement.
