In May of 2005, Evan, 16, had just finished a successful wrestling season and was about to complete his sophomore year of high school. However, a freak accident threatened to be a major setback for the rest of Evan’s athletic career. While mowing the lawn, Evan’s right foot accidentally got caught in the blades. Half of his big toe was cut off, along with much of the skin on his second and third toes.

At the hospital, Evan immediately saw Dr. Jeffrey Stevens, a podiatrist in Beech Grove, Indiana.
