How GRAFTJACKET® Regenerative Tissue Matrix - Ulcer Repair Works GRAFTJACKET® Matrix, when implanted, provides a biologic scaffold that allows the body to repair the foot sore. Doing so will decrease the chance of infection and possible amputation. GRAFTJACKET® Matrix is an important new advance in foot care. Successful wound repair occurs when GRAFTJACKET® Matrix is used as part of the treatment regimen. In most cases, only one application has been needed.
Wound Coverage
GRAFTJACKET® Matrix provides immediate coverage to the foot ulcer.
This is particularly important if your wound is considered deep. In
these cases, your physician will be most concerned about the wound
becoming infected down to your bone.
Building Blocks for Repair
GRAFTJACKET® Matrix contains collagen, elastin, hyualuronan, fibronectin, blood vessel channels, and proteoglycans, that are available for use by the body as it repairs itself.
A key factor is an intact, three-dimensional matrix to build on. Think of it as the steel scaffolding of a new building. The shape, the strength, the look depends on the internal structure of the building. The three-dimensional structure provides a means for the body to rebuild the area of missing tissue.
Another important aspect of the GRAFTJACKET® Matrix is that it is readily revascularized by the body. This means that new blood vessels gain access through preserved blood vessel channels and allows the conversion of the GRAFTJACKET® Matrix into host tissue. Lastly, the components in the GRAFTJACKET® Matrix can be used by the body when repairing itself.
