Intimacy After Knee Surgery

Following your knee replacement surgery, you may have a renewed interest in intimacy. You'll likely be somewhat restricted by comfort and range of motion issues, but always get your surgeon's OK before planning to become intimate again.

Reva's corner:
After a total joint replacement you may be afraid that any activity, including sex, could cause pain or injury. Your partner may also be afraid of hurting you. These fears are normal. Having concerns about the way your body looks is also normal. Discuss such issues with your surgeon and your partner. What matters most is free and open communication of needs - emotional as well as sexual ones.
