Dominic, ADVANCE® Medial-Pivot Knee Recipient
Watch VideoDominic started playing golf nearly forty years ago and has enjoyed the game with family and friends ever since, managing to play one or two games per week. Once his sons were old enough to play, they participated in many family tournaments. When Dominic finally retired, he played golf at every opportunity. In 2002, he was thrown from his golf cart and injured his knee after another golfer crashed into his cart. An x-ray revealed a torn meniscus and some bruising, which exacerbated arthritis in his knee. At first, the accident didn't have a major impact on his golf game but, as time progressed, so did the damage to his knee.
By mid-2006, Dominic was feeling a considerable amount of pain in his arthritic knee. Every aspect of his life was affected by the pain, and he was not enjoying an active retirement. He wore a knee brace, received steroid injections and even underwent arthroscopic surgery, but he was not able to find any relief. Ultimately, the pain became so debilitating that he struggled to walk. While his friends and family were participating in golf tournaments, Dominic sat in the clubhouse. Frustrated by his doctor's inability to treat the arthritis, he knew it was time to seek a second opinion. Dominic consulted with Dr. George Markovich, who was recommended by a friend.

Shortly after surgery, Dominic was feeling better than he had in a year, waking up without the piercing pain and able to walk with minimal assistance. He was back on the golf course just four months after his knee replacement. On average, he plays twice a week and his game is steadily improving.
